When throwing various forms on the wheel, I listen and feel the rhythm between the different characters of clay and my body. Each time after firing, I look forward to listening to the sound of the clay body, transforming the soft clay to a melodious instrument, its unpredictable timbre is fascinating.
在拉坯時,我傾聽並感受不同陶土與身體之間的節奏與律動。每次燒製完成後,我總期待聆聽陶土的聲音,將柔軟的泥土轉化為一件富有旋律的樂器,其不可預測的音色令人著迷。

Going on and off the escalator everyday and surrounded by the dull and repetitive sound of machinery, I transform the E-stop button to an interactive ceramics piece, the sound of ceramics being played adds a timbre of refreshment to the mixture.
每天上下電扶梯,被機械單調重複的聲音包圍,我將緊急停止按鈕轉化為一件互動式陶瓷作品,陶瓷被敲擊時發出的聲音,為這一聲響的混合體增添了一抹清新的音色。

In my series of bells, I have covered different clay mixtures with a unifying black color, concealing their unique characteristics. Viewers are invited to press on the bells to uncover their individual qualities, engaging in a tactile exploration. This act of discovery challenges preconceived notions and fosters a deeper connection with the materials. Through listening, viewers are invited to discover the richness of hidden variations.

Each type of clay reveals its unique character through distinct textures that produce its own resonant note. This synesthetic journey transforms tactile sensations into sound and visual imagery, where every form embodies its own personality, uncovering the intrinsic essence of the material. A dynamic dialogue emerges between touch and hearing, and as their hidden melodies await discovery, a composition begins to take shape.
各種陶泥透過獨特的質地展現個性,並激發專屬的共鳴音韻。這是一場聯覺之旅,觸感轉化為聲響與視覺意象。透過形態各異、個性獨特的陶泥,能揭示材質的內在本質,在觸覺與聽覺間交織出動態對話。當隱藏的旋律靜待發掘,一首樂章便悄然成形。

How is the sound produced? It is either as one active energy meets another passive force, or it comes in contact from both sides actively, sound is created by friction. There are sounds produced in regular and irregular intervals in this world, but through listening to the present moment, it is the music arrangement of that very moment. While creating the various forms on the throwing wheel, I’m listening and feeling the rhythm of my body with the clay and the tension between the speed of the wheel, and from listening closely to the fired forms, it converts the music of that moment to another enjoyable frequency.
聲音是如何產生的?它可能來自一股主動的能量與另一股被動的力量相遇,也可能是雙方主動接觸所產生的摩擦。這個世界中充滿了規律與不規律間歇出現的聲音,而當我們專注傾聽當下,這些聲音便成為此時此刻的音樂編排。
在拉坯時,我一邊創作各種形式,一邊傾聽並感受身體與陶土之間的節奏,以及與輪速之間的張力。而當我細細聆聽燒製完成的作品時,那一刻的音樂被轉化為另一種令人愉悅的頻率。
